We like to encourage you to discover the Oasis by yourself by walking.
Please contact the reception for directions.
Most popular is the walk on the Black Mountain especially for sunset and to the
English Man's House, which takes approximately 45 min. walk on top of the Black
Mountain with its black basalt stones.
Also you may like to walk through the palm grooves, which are just starting
behind the hotel and you can meet the Oasians riding on the donkeys to the
garden, who are friendly and hospital folks.
You may request our "silent guides" to show you around to their
favourite spots (for a little fee only). You do not have to worry about your
way and the kids.
Recommendation: travelers, who have time for experience
If you are visiting the Oasis of the Western Desert please respect the local
Dress Code especially while walking through the Oasis by yourself:
- Women:
- Please wear shirt with long sleeves and long trousers to cover you ankles.
- If you cover your hair by a scarf, your politeness will be appreciated.
- Men:
- Please do not wear short trousers.
It is very safe to walk around the Oasis as there is no criminality. As in a
small community the people know each other by name and often the families are
somehow related among themselves.
Children will approach you and beg you for a pen "mumkin pen" and
some uneducated kids will even ask for "money", we recommend not to
give this little gift as it will raise the expectation in the future ! |
